As the House considers the Senate-passed version of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill, legislation that would rip healthcare away from millions of Americans and raise costs on consumers, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI03), founding member of the Lowering Costs Caucus, introduced an amendment that would block the bill from going into effect unless the Bureau of Labor Statistics proves that the bill will not increase prices on consumers. The Republican Rules Committee rejected this amendment.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI03) announced a major win for West Michigan, successfully securing more than $4.9 million in federal funding for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program (MEP) and The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) after it was announced the Department of Commerce would not be renewing their cooperative agreement that provided these funds. This victory will allow manufacturers and working-class families in West Michigan and beyond to thrive.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten (MI-03) applauded a federal court ruling that blocks the Department of Labor’s abrupt decision to pause operations at Job Corps centers nationwide. The ruling comes after Rep. Scholten and fellow Michigan lawmakers raised serious concerns about the lack of notice, planning, and support for the more than 25,000 students affected across the country, including over 700 in Michigan alone.
