WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, two bills co-lead by Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) through the House Small Business Committee passed the House of Representatives – the POST It Act and the Small Business Contracting Transparency Act.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of West Michigan and the entire country, and these bills are essential to helping small businesses thrive. I’d like to thank my colleagues for coming together in a bipartisan way to get these bills over the finish line,” said Rep. Scholten. “As a member of the Small Business Committee, I’ll keep fighting to make sure that small businesses have the resources they need to succeed.”

The POST It Act would help small businesses stay in compliance with federal regulations by making compliance information from federal agencies easier to locate and understand. Rep. Scholten served as the Democratic co-lead of the bill and helped usher the legislation through the Small Business Committee.

The Small Business Contracting Transparency Act would help women-owned, veteran-owned, and HUBZone-located small businesses compete in the federal contracting marketplace, by enhancing great transparency in contract deals. Federal contracting has been historically dominated by large corporations, but contracting with small businesses has major advantages for quality and security.

In addition to championing the above bills, Rep. Scholten has introduced several bipartisan bills to help America’s small businesses thrive. She introduced the Main Street Competes Act to help small businesses maintain their competition with big corporations in the marketplace, and the Enhancing Competition in Contracting Orders Act to expand economic opportunity for small businesses in underserved regions.
