Scholten Votes to Avoid Government Shutdown

January 18, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) issued the below statement after voting for a two-step continuing resolution to fund the government at Fiscal Year 2023 levels through March 1st and March 8th:

“While I’m glad Congress came together to avoid a government shutdown, it’s our responsibility to pass a full budget – not continuously kick the can down the road with continuing resolutions. Our communities deserve better than to live under the constant threat of a government shutdown every few months. Speaker Johnson should uphold the agreement he reached with Senate leadership and finalize the full Fiscal Year 2024 budget.”
