Scholten Statement On Swearing In Of Rep. Adelita Grijalva Seven Weeks After Her Election

November 12, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Hillary Scholten released the following statement on Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) being sworn into House of Representatives after a 50-day delay:

"Today I had the honor of standing behind my newest colleague, Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva, as she was sworn into office today. For an unprecedented 50 days, Speaker Johnson ignored the American people who elected her, all to protect associates of a convicted pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. This delay was undemocratic and unconstitutional.

“After she was sworn in, Congresswoman Grijalva became the final signature needed to force a House vote on releasing the Epstein files. At the heart of this disaster are the victims of this terrible crime. For them, we continue to pursue justice. The truth must finally come to light."
