Rep. Scholten Takes Action to Hold Iran Accountable After Unprecedented Attack Against Israel

This week, following the unprecedented attack on Israel by Iran, which is one of Hamas’ biggest financial backers, Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) took swift bipartisan legislative action to hold Iran accountable.

“Having a strong international, democratic alliance means we're there for our allies and they are there for us. This alarming, unprecedented attack by Iran on our ally, Israel, demands a response and this week, we took bipartisan action to hold Iran accountable,”said Rep. Scholten.

Rep. Scholten first signed onto a bipartisan letter calling on House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the Senate-passed national security supplemental to the House floor in the wake of the attack by Iran. 

Rep. Scholten then voted in favor of the following bills on the House floor:

  • H.Res.1142Condemning Iran's unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel.
  • H.R. 3033The Solidify Iran Sanctions Act to remove the sunset provision in the Iran Sanctions Act.
  • H.R. 6603 – No Technology for Terror Act to restrict the re-export or transfer of U.S. goods from one foreign country to Iran.
  • H.R. 5917– The Strengthening Tools to Counter the Use of Human Shields Act to allow the President to impose sanctions on individuals or groups who use humans as shields.
  • H.R. 5826No Paydays to Hostage Takers Act to bar U.S. admittance of sanctioned officials for United Nations meetings.
