Rep. Scholten Joins Congressional Food Safety Caucus

December 3, 2024

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI-03) has joined the Congressional Food Safety Caucus. The caucus, chaired by Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, aims to centralize food safety, decrease foodborne illness and outbreaks, and increase inspection of imported foods. More information about the caucus is available here

“Food is medicine, and our food cannot nourish our bodies if it makes us sick,” said Scholten. “Oversight over our nation’s food safety has become increasingly fragmented, resulting in more recalls and outbreaks. This is not sustainable. We must increase inspections and enforcement to keep our food supply chains running and keep American families healthy. I am proud to join the Food Safety Caucus and work alongside my colleagues to forge these much-needed changes.”
