Rep. Scholten Hosts Reproductive Health Roundtable on 51st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade Decision

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Today, on the heels of the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that recognized a fundamental right to privacy in making certain healthcare decisions, including obtaining an abortion, Rep. Hillary Scholten (MI-03) hosted a roundtable on reproductive health with healthcare leaders and advocates from across West Michigan.
During the conversation, the group discussed some of the challenges faced by West Michiganders, as well as some of the federal and state-level efforts aimed at preserving and restoring access to reproductive health care.
“Everyone deserves access to the high-quality reproductive care they need. It was great to hear from local leaders about what still needs to be done to make care accessible for West Michiganders,” said Rep. Scholten. “I want to thank everyone who joined us today for sharing their perspectives on how we can better serve our community.”
Rep. Scholten is the first woman and mom to represent West Michigan in Congress. She is fighting to make sure women across the country have access to the resources they need to make informed reproductive care decisions. She is the co-sponsor of several bills to ensure more equitable access to care and defend the right to choose.
