Rep. Scholten: “Congressman Swalwell Should Do the Right Thing and Resign”

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Today, U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) released the following statement calling on Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA-14) to immediately resign from Congress. 

“The sexual assault allegations against Congressman Eric Swalwell are grave. Multiple women have come forward with corroborated, detailed accounts. A Member of Congress who abuses the authority of this office has no place in Congress. Congressman Swalwell should do the right thing and resign.

“This is about the people who serve Americans—young women and men who deserve a safe, professional workplace. They must know their leaders will stand up for them, hold abusers accountable, and protect and respect them. That is what I will do here.”
