Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten has been appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the New Democratic Coalition’s Workforce Development Task Force. Through this role, Rep. Scholten will work to support alternative forms of higher education including trade skills, tech training, and apprenticeship programs, address the childcare affordability crisis, and tackle the immigration crisis as a workforce development issue.
“I am honored to have been appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Workforce Development Task Force, and to play a critical role in our work with NDC leadership to spearhead initiatives to create a more equitable, competitive, and dynamic workforce,” said Congresswoman Hillary Scholten. “As Vice Chair of this critical task force, I will remain focused on working alongside my colleagues to champion essential legislative priorities, elevate new and diverse pathways to stable employment and deliver for the American people.”
The New Democrat Coalition is a group of House Democrats committed to governing and breaking through the gridlock in Washington D.C. From combating the climate crisis to enacting commonsense immigration reform, each task force is centered around New Dems’ top priorities.
The Vice Chairs and Members on each task force will convene frequent meetings and roundtables with experts and administration officials, endorse legislation and recommendations for executive actions, advocate for Member priorities, work across the aisle to find bipartisan legislative solutions, provide messaging guidance for Members and staff, and more to address the greatest challenges our nation is facing today.
