Scholten Announces $1 Million In Federal Funding Secured For Krause Memorial Library In Rockford

December 22, 2025

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten announced that she secured passage of $1 million in federal funding for the Krause Memorial Library in Rockford. Rep. Scholten advocated for this project to receive funding by submitting it as a FY26 Community Project Funding appropriations request and visited the library in September. The money will fund construction to increase the library’s size and improve accessibility in order to meet growing community demand for library services and to promote literacy and education.

“The Krause Memorial Library is a cornerstone of the Rockford community,” said Rep. Scholten. “It has promoted lifelong learning, provided nourishing food in the summer, and been a welcoming space for all. I have advocated for funding for this library for years and am thrilled that we have finally secured $1 million for the critical expansion project that will enhance the lives of so many.”

“For the past two decades, residents have asked when Krause Memorial Library will be expanded,” said City Manager Thad Beard. “By championing our congressionally designated spending request, Congresswoman Scholten has helped ensure this project reaches its final chapter and that Krause Memorial Library continues to serve as a beloved cornerstone of pride and possibility in our community.”
